2. FoneConnector general architecture

FoneConnector doesn‘t listen directly to your telephone line. Instead, it integrates with some popular 3rd party telephony systems, which identify the icoming call and send the caller‘s number to FoneConnector to do the lookup in Daylite:

This way, we are very flexible and can potentially support any telephone device that the 3rd party telephony system supports by itself.

Please note as a consequence: If you would like to handle inbound calls automatically with FoneConnector you will need to already own or obtain one of the supported 3rd party telephony solutions (extra costs will apply for a license). These are not included in the FoneConnector distribution!

However some of those 3rd-party telephony solutions offer a trial version and FoneConnector itself offers a free 14-day-trial too, so you can test a desired configuration easily before purchase.

2.1 FoneConnector Phone Plugins

The technical connection to these 3rd party telephony solutions is done through FoneConnector Phone Plugins.

At this time we support the following 3rd party telephony solutions by means of our current FoneConnector Phone Plugins and integration scripts:

2.2 AppleScript Plugin included

We are including a generic AppleScript plugin with FoneConnector so that you (or a Daylite partner) can create an individual integration with your software solutions or other telephony system that we don't (yet) support out-of-the-box.

If activated, the FoneConnector AppleScript plugin waits to be called from an external application with a phone number and triggers FoneConnector to do the Daylite database lookup for this number.

This way you can integrate your iPhone with FoneConnector & Daylite via Phone Amego (which connects to the iPhone) and a simple AppleScript which is triggered by Phone Amego when your iPhone rings! Crazy cool!

2.3 Manual mode available too

If you don't have a setup for handling inbound calls automatically (or another situation) you can open FoneConnector's call window anyway by selecting a contact or organization in Daylite and selecting »Open as a caller« from the actions menu.
