AppleScript Dialer QuickStart Guide

Write your own AppleScript dialing scripts and integrate them with our free AppleScript Dialer. Feel free to share your dialing scripts and send them to asdialer@daylite.biz along with a short description, your full name, email and URL. We will publish your script on this website and give you credit.

1. Installation

• Download the AppleScript Dialer-DMG and mount it on your desktop by double-clicking it.
   
• Quit Daylite
   
• Copy AppleScriptDialer.bundle from inside the disk image you mounted into your user's Library folder: ~/Library/Application Suport/Daylite/PlugIns/
   
• Copy the »AppleScript Dialer Scripts« folder from inside the disk image to your Mac (where you like it to stay)
   
• Start Daylite
  

2. Configuration

In Daylite, select a number to dial by clicking on the label left to the appropriate phone number and choose »Dial«:



  
The Daylite dialer dialogue opens in Daylite.
Select »AppleScript Dialer« in the Device pulldown first.
Then select »Dialer Preferences«:


 
 
Next, choose »Select Script« (at least one script must be configured)




and select a pre-made script from the accompanying »AppleScript Dialer Scripts« folder that works with your own telephony system:



What if there is no dialing script for my system?
If there is no pre-made script that works with your telephony system, you will have to create your own dialing script (look inside the scripts we provide as an example), or ask us - or one of the other Daylite partners - to write one for you (if technically possible for your system). Please provide detailed technical documentation about your telephony system and ask for a quote for evaluation first.
 
 
You can add more Scripts via »Manage Scripts« afterwards (only active if there are any scripts to manage):




Finally, click on the Dial-Button to make the call.




When clicking on »Manage Scripts, look at the +/- buttons to add/remove scripts, use the right mousebutton to reveal the selected scripts in Finder.




Open each script for documentation (double click on it) and watch for scripts that have to be configured first to your personal environment:




Open FoneConnector window for outgoing calls

For this to work, FoneConnector must be installed and configured. Plus, the AppleScript Phone Plugin must be enabled in FoneConnector preferences to listen to AppleScript calls. At the end select one of the ready-made scripts with the FoneConnector trigger for the AppleScript Dialer, or adapt them to your needs.
